Water Quality
Our plant personnel test water quality on a daily basis at different times throughout the day. The tests include; pH, color, iron, manganese, aluminum, calcium hardness, alkalinity, chlorine and fluoride. We also test for odor six times a day. We constantly monitor pH, chlorine and turbidity through the entire plant.
We sample our raw water sources weekly, by doing this we get an idea of the quality of water that will be entering our plant. Also we visually check these stations daily.
Tests we perform as required by DEP are as follows; bacteria (60 samples per month throughout the distribution system), distribution chlorine residuals at the bacteria sampling sites and combined filter effluent and individual filter turbidity exceedences, also lowest chlorine reading at entry to the distribution system. We also test for nitrates, nitrites, Arsenic, volatile organic chemicals (VOC’s), synthetic organic chemicals (SOC’s), total organic carbon (TOC’s), and Inorganic chemicals (IOC’s).Trihalomethanes (THM’s) and halo acetic acids (HAA5) are also tested. We also test for Lead and Copper, and radiological contaminants (RADS) in the treated water.
